Sister Cities Girlchoir (SCG): Lifting Voices. Building Futures. Creating Change.

Now entering its 14th powerful season, Sister Cities Girlchoir (SCG) is more than a choir, it’s a movement. As the nation’s premier Girlchoir Empowerment Choral Academy, SCG ignites young voices and equips them to raise songs of justice, joy, and belonging.

Through choral music, Sister Cities Girlchoir builds courageous communities of young music-makers who know that their voices matter — and that their artistry can help shape a more equitable, compassionate world.

From neighborhood stages to national landmarks, SCG singers have shared their brilliance at Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, The Smithsonian, Citizens Bank Park, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, and many more. Collaborations with renowned partners like Opera Philadelphia, ANNA Crusis Treble Choir, Temple University, and El Sistema New Jersey speak to SCG’s commitment to artistic excellence and community connection.

Inspired by El Sistema, Venezuela’s life-changing music education model, SCG was founded by Alysia Lee, who studied El Sistema deeply through a prestigious fellowship at the New England Conservatory. That vision lives on in SCG’s flagship program — the Saturday Girlchoir Academy — which runs throughout the school year and expands into a transformative summer overnight camp experience.

With a steadfast commitment to access and equity, all SCG programming is priced to be accessible to every family, because every girl deserves the chance to lift her voice and lead.
